Greetings Psycogs!
In a series of two articles, we'll be detailing our next major update: the Time Rifts, coming up on the 8th of November!
Our first article is about Mutations which are the key elements of this new PvE mode. Titans (or bosses) will be available to challenge in a weekly rotation of both an Inferior or Superior Rift, resetting each Monday.
The Inferior Rift will have the Titan affected by one of the Minor Mutations whereas the Superior Rift will get both a Minor Mutation and a Superior One.
To unlock this new PvE challenge, you'll have to have defeated the Weekly Boss in Normal first.
INFERIOR MUTATIONS
Let's start with one you'll recognize through its blue hue and electrical surrounding: THE ELECTROSTATIC MUTATION.
Here are the effects of this mutation:
At the end of the turn of the players and of the boss, a random mutant or building on the opponent's board suffers Stasis 3.
Additionally, when a mutant or a building in stasis is destroyed, all the player's mutants suffer as much damages as the number of Stasis stacks.
You'll have to keep an eye on who has Stasis and play around it in order not to trigger devastating chains of destructions!
You then have THE RADIOACTIVE MUTATION!
This one will be terrible for Mutant heavy decks:
At the end of the player's turn, all opposing mutants suffer -1 ATK.
When a mutant has 0 ATK it is automatically destroyed and this is not affected by Stasis!
Once again, purification effects will be key as well as making sure your Mutants do not reach 0 Attack!
THE SEISMIC MUTATION is sure to make each player quake!
Each time a building comes into play, all non-Psycore buildings take 2 damage, and the player who played the building takes 2 damage. But in order to put players on a timer, at the start of each boss's turn, the Psycores each take 2 damage, dealing a whooping 6 damages at 3 players!
Buildings will have to be limited with this mutation and you'll have to go fast in order not to lose to the seismic waves!
If earthquakes weren't your thing, you'll have THE NECROPLAGUE MUTATION to deal with! This one is quite simple:
When a mutant is destroyed, summon 1 basic Zombie for the boss. Don't be (too) afraid, the Zombie won't summon another Zombie but still it's very easy to get swamped under the undead!
Trades will have to be thoughtful and efficient for you to survive!
This is another simple effect: THE DETONATING MUTATION!
When a mutant or building is destroyed on a board, it explodes and inflicts 1 damage to the entire board and the opposing board.
When you are against this mutation, you have to make sure not to trigger a chain reaction of explosive proportions. So you have to make the proper choice between destroying mutants or attacking the boss!
But that's not all, if you face the Superior Rifts, you'll have to deal with a combo of a Minor Mutation and Major one!
MAJOR MUTATIONS
Major Mutations transform the challenge of Time Rifts to make it more difficult. In addition to Minor Mutations, they can cause very interesting twists on the fights!
The Titan now has armour, but wait! Its Mutants too. This makes every Trade more difficult as things are more tough, needing you to have a harder hit force.
All Mutants from an Enraged Titan will have +2 ATK. Now imagine this with the NECROPLAGUE MUTATION and you will realize how dangerous it can be. Just like the Metalic Titan, it will make you think about trades!
When the Titan is Colossal, it has +100% HP. Making it twice as resistant. This will cause multiple abilities to trigger several times. Rushing it down is even more difficult and what could be a sprint fight becomes an enduring one!
Here are all the Mutations from the new Time Rifts! As you can see, this will bring us to a total of 15 different combos for Superior Rifts! A real weekly challenge that we hope you will enjoy.
